It is generally conceded that impeachment is more of a political than a legal process. However, the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP), supposedly the official organization of lawyers in the Philippines, has issued a statement raising an interesting legalistic claim regarding the impeachment of Chief Justice Renato Corona. The statement argues that while the impeachment process itself against Corona is legal, some of the grounds relied on, particularly those which question the opinions of the justices applying the Constitution in actual cases, constitute an assault on the judiciary…

The obtaining facts tell us that the adjudicatory phase of the criminal cases against Arroyo including electoral sabotage, plunder and other high crimes of graft and corruptions had been well approaching when she…

Impeachment is a political process mainly because party-mates will vote along party lines. This is the habiliment of democracy. Majority controls the business of the day, minority voice is heard for the record, but it does not carry the business for the day. We should not lose our equilibrium because some Senators have already prejudged Merci and therefore they should inhibit from sitting in the impeachment body. The process itself is political and therefore, it will be resolved in accordance with party agenda. Merci, from my recollection did not argue that politics is ruinous to public…

  • Wine Tasting Workshop by Manila Wine at Brasserie CiÇou

    Guia Obsum
    13 Mar 2015 | 4:16 am
A flight of French wines amid a fine French dinner...I've always wanted to try Brasserie CiÇou, having heard of so many good things about Chef Cyrille Soenen's French masterpieces. And for that night's meal, not only did I get a taste of his legendary creations, I also had a chance to participate in a wine tasting workshop conducted by wine connoisseur Bernard Flour of Manila Wine. I've attended a few wine flights and wine appreciation events, and this is one of the more informative ones.Manila Wine is an online wine store that carries mostly French wines, but also offers wines from other…
  • Enjoying Burgers at 8 Cuts

    Guia Obsum
    4 Mar 2015 | 9:49 pm
8 Cuts' burgers rank high up on that best burgers list...I'm not much of a burger person; there are only a few ones that catch my interest. I've been hearing about 8 Cuts way before I actually tried it, simply because burgers are not something I usually crave for. During one of the rare times we found ourselves in Megamall, my mom and I tried 8 Cuts since she was in the mood for a burger. Why 8 Cuts? They use 8 cuts of beef: chuck, rib eye, short rib, sirloin, brisket, hanger, flank, and ox tail. And from these they have 5 different patty blends that you can choose from. That's what makes them…
  • Tony Roma's Ribvolution Card

    31 Jan 2015 | 7:05 pm
Check out Tony Roma's Ribvolution Card...Tony Roma's has always been associated with great ribs. This was one of my family's go-to restaurants for birthdays and other special occasions. While it may be famous for its ribs, I have always opted for its steaks; just not much of a rib person back then. It has been a while since we last ate at Tony Roma's, not for anything else, but there seemed to be a sudden sprouting of new restaurants here and there, and being a food blogger means that you have to at least try some, if not all, of these newcomers in the dining scene, thereby making your usual…

Japanese Home Cooking further South...One time, I was supposed to pick up my sister-in-law from Evia. I asked my brother for directions and he told me that as soon as I've passed the 3 gasoline stations along Daang Hari, I should be seeing a Starbucks store soon enough, and I just have to turn right to where I was supposed to meet my SIL. I got the shock of my life when I finally saw Starbucks -- it wasn't JUST Starbucks. There was a beautiful backdrop; "a whole new world" literally came to mind when I saw the enormity of the whole place. It was a gorgeous community of shops, restaurants and…

  • Things to do in Willisau, Switzerland

    pinaysaeuropa
    25 Mar 2015 | 10:46 am
I have thought of writing an article about Willisau ever since I started this blog. Willisau is a small district in canton Lucerne which has just around 7,554 population (that is according to wikipedia as of December 2013). It is pretty small which I find actually charming since the people here greet each other still when they meet each other or strangers in the streets. Willisau is also famous for its ring-like biscuits that is called Willisauer Ringli, which is by the way really crisp and delicious. From Lucerne Main train station, one can go to WIllisau by riding the hourly train in the…

We went to Gletschergarten (Glacier garden in English) , a nature museum found in the heart of Lucerne. It is actually quite famous for tourists and when we went there, there were literally packs of people visiting. Most of the people I saw were Asians in tour groups and a few European and African families. From the main train station in Lucerne, you can go to Gletschergarten by taking the buses number 1, 19, 22, 23 and go down on the Löwenplatz station. From there you can just easily find where it is because there are signs directing people to the museum. Gletschergarten is open everyday…
  • My trip to the grocery store (How I make tipid in der Schweiz)

    21 Mar 2015 | 11:32 am
My husband laughs at me whenever I buy things with 50% off on the product. He says this red circle with 50% sticked on them looks so strange and laughable. But hey, in a land where you have to pay almost everywhere you go, looking for ways to cut expenses is always a good idea. So anyway, let me begin by saying that I do not buy things just because they are on sale. Far from it. I think twice and thrice if I really need something before I go ahead and take it to the counter. I do not have unused clothes, uneaten foods that go to waste, etc. Buying things just because they are on sale is also…
  • Selling in Ebay. Help!

    pinaysaeuropa
    17 Mar 2015 | 1:16 am
Since I would like to sell some things, I signed up for ebay Switzerland. I was able to make my own Ebay account together with my Paypal account, however, as I started to navigate the Sell part. I was lost. Unfortunately, I could not find the English site, it is all in German. I can understand this language already but I do not want to make any mistakes since it would involve money (mine and the buyer as well) so it took me soooo long to fill up all the necessary fields. Then came the last part, I am supposed to pay the Ebay gebühren (costs) and it is through credit card or bank transfer.
