    One of the most visited resorts in Batangas is the Lago de Oro Resort in Balibago, Calatagan, Batangas. This is mainly because of the wakeboarding activities found in the Cable Ski Park in front of it. Check out this short video clip of visitors riding the wakeboard all day: Lago de Oro is situated about 115 kilometers South West of Manila on the shore of the South CHina Sea and on Zobel highway. Estimated travel time by land is about 2 to 2.5 hours, depending on traffic at South Super Highway. Video taken using a Samsung IT100 point-and-shoot camera.

    One of the most popular tourist attractions in the Mindanao island of Camiguin is Medano Islet, popularly known as White Island. This island is actually just a sandbar with fine white sand (hence the name) and its shape changes with the constantly-shifting currents.     Since I’ve already blogged about Xavier University and the Ateneo de Davao University here way, way before, I figured, why not complete the trio of Mindanao Jesuit schools and feature the Ateneo de Zamboanga University? The main campus of the university is in downtown Zamboanga City while the Tumaga Campus, which houses the High School, is located further upland. The University was founded in 1912, making it the second oldest Jesuit school in the Philippines after the Ateneo de Manila University. It started as the Escuela Catolica before being renamed as the Ateneo de Zamboanga in 1916.

    A year after Japanese manufacturer Toyota took the number 1 spot as world’s largest automaker from General Motors, the crown was wrestled away and took in by German Volkswagen-Porsche (VW). Owing to state-backed stimulus packages around the globe, VW produced 4.4 million vehicles compared to Toyota’s 4 million units.     Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) announced its acquisition of networking gear outfit 3Com (COMS) for $2.7 billion or $7.90 per share. The acquisition, which was approved by both companies’ respective boards of directors, will bolster up HP against Cisco (CSCO). The latter is venturing out to HP’s businesses especially after it announced its plan to enter the server market early this year.     Michael Jackson’s funeral was reported to cost more than $1 million, and that includes $35,000 worth of burial garments. In September, the King of Pop was laid in a crypt in the Holly Terrace section of the Great Mausoleum at Forest Lawn cemetery in Glendale.     Switzerland bids to be the first to produce a solar powered airplane that can travel around the world. Solar Impulse unveiled the prototype in an airbase hangar near Zurich.
